Are you a budding dancer?
Are you a fan of the Busby Berkeley style of choreography?
Do you want to bring dance to a new unassuming audience?
We have 2 types of roles coming up to get involved with the next Samarbeta residency that may be of interest to you.
In early March Samarbeta announced the next residency in the Samarbeta calendar as “Luma Disco”, a project by Liverpool based trio, Stealing Sheep.
The Project will bring to life their new shimmery disco sounds and colourful pop-art lighting techniques that experiment with black light illusion, sound responsive light structures, cutting edge LED sculpturing, RGB shadows and robotic dance formations.
Speaking to the Guardian in 2015 they said “We wanted people to watch our gig and for it to be like an image – a sort of illusion, It’s evolving all the time.” This project will be the next step towards making this dream a reality.
The residency culminates in the premiere of this new live show at the Festival Pavilion at Manchester International Festival on Saturday 8th July.
We are looking for 3-6 dancers to take part in this live show and potentially tour the show to different cities in the UK in a host of ambitious concerts to be performed alongside the new album from Stealing Sheep. This is a voluntary role but we will ensure that costs are covered (within reason) and you will be well looked after across rehearsal and show days with all food provided. You will need to be available for 3-4 days across the period of 22nd June-7th July (rehearsal dates TBD) and full availability on Saturday 8th July.
We are also looking for a choreographer to help make this show a reality. There will be a small budget dependent on expeperience and funding to make this happen. We are looking for someone who can work in a contemporary style and who has an interest in creating strong shapes. It is anticipated that you will meet with the group to develop ideas on 1 or 2 occasions between x and 22nd July and you will be available during the residency on 4 days between 22nd June - 7th July (rehearsal dates TBD).
To apply for either of these roles please send the following:
A 250 word biography of you and your relevant work to this project
Links to dance performances you have been involved with
Any relevant images, videos or visual stimuli (optional)
All applications must be submitted by May 29th, 10am and sent to firstname.lastname@example.org with the title ‘Stealing Sheep Dancer Application’ or ‘Stealing Sheep Choreographer Application’ dependent on which role you are applying for.
