KONSTRUKT

ISLINGTON MILL - 19:30

Tombed Visions Records and Cuspeditions, in association with Samarbeta, Fat Out's Burrow and Cafe Oto, are honoured to be bringing Turkish Free-jazz Legends to Islington Mill for the first ever show in Manchester and their only Northern date on this debut UK Tour!

"Konstrukt comprises; guitarist Umut Çağlar, saxophonist Korhan Futaci, drummer Cem Tan & Berke Can Özcan and bass player Barlas Tan Özemek. The band has been garnering attention not only at home in Turkey but in European improvised music circles. They have performed with Peter Brötzmann, Joe McPhee, William Parker, Akira Sakata, Marshall Allen, Evan Parker, Michiel Braam's Bik Bent Baam, Alfred Harth, Eugene Chadbourne. To record with these jazz giants is, indeed, a stamp of approval and hopefully their message of liberating music can be heard by a larger audience. Their albums have been released by prestigious labels on LP and CD formats."

The group will be performing two sets. One as the original quartet and the 2nd with specifically selected Manchester based improvisers.

Advanced tickets are now available from FAT OUT'S BURROW website, £8 advanced! http://www.fatout.co.uk/

'A LINE FRACTURES INTO A THOUSAND ABERRATIONS'

ISLINGTON MILL - 19.30

Electroacoustic musician and modular synth specialist Sam Weaver will commence upon the fourth Samarbeta music residency alongside Visual Artist Rachel Goodyear, across 5 weeks through July and August. Weaver has invited national and international musicians to take part in 'A Line Fractures into a Thousand Aberrations', a residency with collaboration and improvisation at its core.

Beginning with a skeletal framework of scores, markers and directions, Weaver will set off a collaborative relay. Goodyear will be interpreting these directions into artworks of drawings, painting and collage, from which the musicians will then read and transform into music. Each stage offers openness for all involved to open up a dialogue into alternative ways of transferring visual into aural. Over the course of the residency the cycle will continue as more scores, artworks and musicians come together, culminating in this live performance of directed music and live art.

The live event of 'A Line Fractures into a Thousand Aberrations' will be performed by:
